Youth Apprenticeship
The State of Wisconsin regulates this high school program through the Department of Workforce Development. It is an earn-while-you-learn opportunity created for high school students who are Juniors and Seniors. The program provides hands-on industry exposure and experiences. Students earn school credit and receive work release during the school year.
The PMSMCA supports contractor members participating in the state’s Youth Apprenticeship Program through workforce development initiatives, educational outreach, and stakeholder engagement. This support includes organizing workforce development events, participating in school programs, facilitating workshops, and serving as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) and convener for Youth Apprenticeship stakeholders.

PMSMCA’s Youth Apprenticeship Interview Day is an annual event scheduled in April each year. In speed interviewing style, contractor members have the opportunity to meet with over 100 high school students from all over SE WI in one day. These initial interviews are the starting point to meet with potential high school (incoming Junior or Seniors) who meet the school program’s criteria to participate. Students who attend are looking to get a head start and are seriously interested in learning more about the mechanical industry career pathways.
If you are a contractor interested in participating in the future, please reach out to jill→pmsmca.com
