Heavy Metal Summer Experience
Heavy Metal Summer Experience-Milwaukee is a one-week camp experience for individuals aged 16-19 years old. Students selected for this camp submit an application, their resume, and complete a 15-minute phone interview with the camp coordinators. Campers must have reliable transportation and be seriously interested in learning more about the sheet metal and pipefitting trades.
The 2026 camp application is currently closed. In January, the student application for the current year’s summer program opens through the end of April.
There is currently no cost for the selected students. This program is sponsored nationally and locally.

Youth Apprenticeship Readiness Camps

In efforts to support the state’s youth apprenticeship program and PMSMCA contractor members, separate youth camps were designed for students interested in:
Camps were created for newly hired youth apprentices to be sent to or high school students wanting to gain more training and experience in each trade. If a high school student is currently hired by a contractor member, they may use the hours acquired during the camp week(s) towards their minimum 450 hours for the youth apprenticeship program. Every camper will receive a certificate of completion on the last day of camp, which will indicate the foundational skills learned throughout that week.
As of June 5th 2026, all camp applications are closed for the year. The 2027 camps will open their applications in May. To learn more about what campers learn each week, check out our recent save-the-date flyer.
