Plumbing Inspection Handbook

One of our more popular services, the annual plumbing inspector’s handbook is a useful tool, which puts together and answers many of your daily questions in one convenient location.   In 2006, we introduced the Plumbing Inspectors Handbook: CD-Rom version.

The Handbook is a compilation of area plumbing inspectors names, hours of operation, permit fees, sewer and water fees, bonding and security deposits, miscellaneous fees, penalties, re-insertion, plan review, and administrative fees.  Every year we survey area inspectors to be sure that the information we share is the most up to date information available.

You can expect to receive your manual around the beginning of May, if you don’t receive one, please call Linda at 414/543-7622.

Plumbing License Bonds

Through our plumbers license bonds program you can receive substantial savings on the purchase of plumbers license bonds for the following communities: Milwaukee, City of* ($10,000): $25.00; New Berlin ($5,000):  $20.00; Butler: ($1,000): $10.00

For street work in the following communities, plumbers license bonds in the amount of $1,000 are required: Cudahy: $10.00; South Milwaukee: $10.00; Wauwatosa: $10.00; Shorewood: $10.00; City of New Berlin (requires $5,000 bond): $20.00

Only these communities accept our blanket bond. When you are requested by one of these communities to supply a bond, you can call us and request a Power of Attorney online.  You must then sign it, have it notarized, and mail it to our office- it’s that easy!

For more information on the plumbers license bond program, please contact Linda at 414/543-7622.

* City of Milwaukee will not process bond without a $50 check and certificate of insurance attached.

Continuing Education

We offer a number of approved educational courses for continuing education credit which satisfy the requirements for plumbers by Safety & Building Division of Department of Commerce. If you have questions regarding the number of continuing education hours you or your plumber have earned, you may visit the state's website.  At the site you can search by company or plumber’s last name to check the status of your license, number of CEUs needed, and more.

WPT Drug Testing Program

In June 2000, the Mechanical Contractors Association of Wisconsin (MCAW) and the Wisconsin Pipe Trade Association (WPTA) agreed to a statewide drug and alcohol testing and assistance program.  The program provides for pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-incident, and random testing.

We are committed to establishing and maintaining a drug-free workplace for every signatory contractor and every WPTA member.  With that commitment in mind, the program was created to meet several important objectives:

  • Protect the health and safety of employees, co-workers, and customers
  • Meet the needs of customers—in an effective and efficient way
  • Provide assistance for workers who need it
  • Reduce the cost of worker’s compensation, health and other insurances
  • Enhance our public image as a unionized industry
